Proper stirring/shaking before spraying is very important
Cerakote raw materials and solvents separate over time and settle. Therefore, it is important to thoroughly mix the raw materials and solvents together. If Cerakote is not mixed properly, an uneven ratio of these components results, leading to a coating that is rich in solvents and has a glossy or transparent appearance. Without shaking, the coating will obviously be inconsistent. If a bottle is not shaken properly, the coating will also become more viscous (thicker), resulting in poor sprayability, aesthetics, and performance.
Cerakote raw materials and solvents separate over time and settle. Therefore, shake Cerakote vigorously when applying it by hand. We recommend using a paint shaker for good mixing; see below for recommended mixing times.

The following Cerakote coatings are thicker and need to be shaken for a few minutes longer:
- C-Series
- Glacier Series
- All specialty coatings
Helpful tip: To make mixing easier, you can drop degreased marbles or hex nuts into the Cerakote bottle to help stir.
